The Power of the People is stronger than the People in Power.

This is what i wrote sometime back and didn't publish then.

As we know the world is evolving in all directions, we can see the advent of printing press, electricty, computers, telecommunications, Internet, open source softwares and many more thing which are responsible to take us into completely new dimensions which our ancestors haven't even dreamt of.
But the political system stopped to evolve much as it should be and i would say it almost stagnated. Allover the world we got stuck with the idea of Democracy which is not the best form. The world is being "Institutionalized" under the pretext of this Democracy. This is not a fair system and within itself it can be evolved.
The way it is working today has put the whole of humanity powerless. I will explain state of Democracy in our country "INDIA". Its run by political parties and their masters. There are almost 2 National level political party and almost twice numbers in regional (state) level parties.
They say the voters decide the future of the country, but the fact is that a handful of Politicians heading the party decide the future of the country. Voters are left with 3 or 4 choices of candidates to vote in their respective constituency, which is being fielded by their respective parties.
Here is a simple Maths: Example Maharashtra.
Total Seats: (288).

NCP 71 seats 24.65%,
Congress 69 seats 23.95%,

BJP 54 seats 18.75%,
Shiv Sena 62 seats 21.53%,

Independents 19 seats 6.61% &
Other 7 Parties 13 seats 4.51%.

Here we can see that just 2 National party & 2 regional party almost completely takeover (hijack) the state. In each party there is a committee of average 6 people responsible to give TICKETS which is a closed door event and non transparent. This means, 6 X 4 = 24 people decide the future of the state of Maharashtra and this is true for all other states in India. How can be a Democracy be true in its spirit if just 24 people from four different parties decide ?
What is the alternative to this ?
Can they bring transparency in giving Tickets ?
Can they even think about it ?
We all know what are the real qualification/criteria to obtain Tickets to fight elections.
How can we solve this problem ? or at least start thinking about the problem & its solutions.
The fact is majority of people even doesn't know that the problem exist !!!
How can they even think about the solutions ?
Unless we get rid of these kind of controlled setup and have a mindset that its not a dynasty its a democracacy then only we can create a new India

India & China

Why are we fighting an ever loosing war ?

The history of mankind is built on new thinking. We use the previous generation of tools as a foundation to build new tools, which in turn build even more powerful tools-a feedback loop that keeps onaccelerating. Some of these innovations change the world forever: from the Agricultural Revolution to Industrial Revolution to Artificial Intelligence.Through war and peace, it is humanity at its most inventive, and sometimes most destructive. The history of technology is the history of us. The library of Baghdad destroyed and levelled to ground by Genghis Khan, the library of Nalanda & Takshila was destroyed by invaders and Britishers, the Muslim scholars of Al-Andalusia wrote many books containing advanced scientific knowledges. Those million of books were destroyed during Spanish reconquista. If only 30 books left behind could lead mankind to nuclear technology, then imagine if more of them had remained we would already had travelled between galaxies in space. The Indus valley civilization provided the world with philosophers and scientists like: Chanakya, Chandragupta, Aryabhatta, Ashoka, Gautama Buddha, Mahaviracharya, Adi Shankara,Varahamihira, Charak, Sushruta, Maharishi Patanjali, Brahmgupta, Baudhayan, Kanad, Nagarjuna, Bhaskaracharya, and the list goes on... The Islamic civilization provided the world with this following philosophers and scientist.Al-kindi, Al Razi, Al ghazali, Ibn Rushd(Averroes), ibn khaldun, al-farabi, IBN Sina (Avecinna), Ibn Tufail (Abubacer), IBN Al Nafees, Al Battani, Ibn Al Haytam(Alhacen), Ibn Bajjah(Avempace), Omar Khyam, Al Biruni, Ibn Zuhr(Avezoar) and the list goes on and on... We have not been taught the history of science and technology, the history we studied was about wars, people killing people, story of kings, the  dynasties, the empires, occupations, conflicts, the rulers. Have we been taught about history of inventors then we could have seen a different story altogether.  Economies are not built overnight but can be destroyed overnight. In this Global competitive world we  cannot take revenge or punish China just by tearing the Chinese chapter from our books or uninstalling chinese apps. We must learn from the history, otherwise we endup doing the same thing which invaders and conquerers of earlier century did by destroying libraries, instead of benefitting from them. Apps become popular because of their utility value. Actually we can learn from China itself, only then we can tackle them. They have their own alternatives of Google, Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. You name it they have it, Baidu, Gaode maps, WeChat, QQ, tantan, xiaohongshu and the list goes on. We were able to produce our unicorns like ola, flipkart, Paytm but they are no more indian.Once in a while we do it, and after we do it we are sold to foreigners. We are missing the culture of innovation and the ecosystem which supports these cultures.Bangalore, the only Indian city ahead in thinking among us is trying to build the culture and ecosystem, we have a long way to go, we need to set our minds right first.

Disruptive Telecom & Net Neutrality

In my opinion days are seems to be numbered for telecom operators for those who are trying to control the internet. The fact is that, the technology space is so fascinating and growing exponentially that it is next to impossible for any industry or service providers to control it. These telcos have not learned from their previous experiences.

They tried to control and make money on SMS, MMS, Audio or Video (multi-media) services which was just not accepted by users the way they wanted it to be. Though Blackberry made some money by offering sms, mms, audio & video sharing through its BBM service where Blackberry & Telecom service provider enjoyed for a long while.
Although it was a breakhthrough service offered by Blackberry which was bundled as per month of fixed price instead of users paying for each time for per mms, audio or video (multi-media). Sooner or later whatsapp like services arrived and disrupted the market as it was platform & operator independent. Users popularised these services and we all know where blackberry's BBM service stands now. The telcos would have owned the entire multi-media sharing market by bundling it & making it affordable to users but they limited themselves by charging for each time a user user the service instead of bundling it at a nominal price so that they can rope in users and profit on business of scale.

Similarly, with the 3G & 4G speeds there are hundreds of apps vying for users attention for voice services. Although, voice over internet is present for some time but it is taking rapid inroads into mobile & portable devices which is simply unavoidable due to their quality of service and non-dependent of service providers.
An average user is 80% of the time in a wifi network either at home or office and does not use cellular data network which is more costlier than a home or office wifi. Telcos are already loosing this game of data on mobile by making this a costlier proposition for user. Instead they should sell the data service at par or lower than wifi cost so that user thinks that its safe to use mobile data without bothering about hefty charges.

Each skype call or whatsapp message or a youtube video eats aways their revenue when it is routed through non telco network like ISP. I do not have the figure for non telcos data usage by mobile devices which otherwise could have been through telecos network.

There are disruptions almost in all the businesses due to enablement & growth of technology since most of it is done on collaboration & co-operation model by which services & contents are free in the hands of users. This is never going to stop, telcos are thinking to make money by restricting the internet traffic and allowing those traffic who has partnerships with them, this is already happening like when i open youtube it works fine and when i open some other video browsing site they are slow, i experienced this phenomenon very often.
If they do so, in my opinion their major data usage is going to be shifted to internet service providers (wifi) which will grow by leaps & bound. Sooner or later users will abandon the telcos for data service like they did for multi-media, and this time again telcos will miss the opportunity.

My Journey into Affordable Housing

I would like to share my Journey.

I had a very simple & basic Vision.
To create Value for common people having passion for change.
And to bring Equality in Education & Opportunity for the people of my country.
I believe that these above objectives can be achieved only by creating scaleable business model and keep innovating continuously therein.
Keeping these things in mind I always strive to keep innovating and creating new levels through my business.

THE JOURNEY:

* I wanted to be a Surgeon but unfortunately was not able to secure admission in Medical College in Mumbai due to limited seats.

* Got admitted in Degree course of Construction Engineering b'cos of my parents wish and I failed in 1st year & again in 2nd year and then dropped out as it became difficult to concentrate and clear exams. Engineering was not my cup of tea.

* During the period I failed in studies, my Dad made sure i go to a practicing architect so as to occupy myself for studies and not waste time hanging around with friends.

* I got fascinated with drawings & plannings and the way this Architect work and got to meet his clients and learn lots of business calculation. Having lost my opportunity of being a Surgeon i developed another passion in building construction.

* I declared to quit my studies and start construction but nobody supported my idea at home although my family was an entrepreneurial family manufacturing Textiles. Finally, i have to make my own way and i quit my study to start as a small time contractor without any money but with a dream to make it big someday.

* I worked hard as a contractor just to find enough money to start my own project. It took me around 3 years for to arrange things. And finally in the year 2003 we started a project in an upcoming area Kamothe, in Navi Mumbai.

* Few other projects followed in this region but as the land rates skyrocketed unexpectedly in Navi Mumbai it has become virtually impossible to maintain the same growth momentum, within few years the cost of FSI per square feet escalated from a mere Rs:100 to Rs:1200. Earning Rs:200 per sqft as profit was quite acceptable at that time which was 200% of the land cost. In the year 2005-06, inspite of having a profit margin of Rs:600 per sqft which was just 50% of land cost. The increasing land rates has become major concern and only benefited the investors but not builders and home seekers.

* At the same time the market was gradually growing, diversifying and maturing over the years and constantly offering unexplored markets and territories for developers and investors alike. As the Indian economy moves higher into its growth trajectory and further integrates itself with the global economy, planned and organised housing development across segments got boosted. I stumbled upon a mind boggling data about huge housing shortage in Affordable housing.

The housing shortage in urban India stood at 20.5 million as of 2010.
The housing shortage in rural India stood at 26 million as of 2010.
The housing shortage in urban and rural India will be around 21.7 and 19.7 million units respectively in 2014.

* This above scenario has prompted us to rethink, search and research and find a proper solution in order to maintain the growth and stay away from overheated locations, and it was that time that Govt. Of Maharashtra has come out with complete GR to build townships. I started exploring the possibility of building Townships of Affordable homes in emerging locations of Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

* We recognised the tremendous potential in the sector and had identified the areas to be in, which is still unexplored and untapped. Doing Integrated AffordableTownship Project allows us to benefit from economies of scale and brand identity, instead of doing several small untitled projects.

* The land rates near Kalyan on Mumbai-Nashik Highway (NH3) were quite reasonable and ideal for township project provided we get sufficient land. Identifying ideal location we started purchasing lands but we failed in acquiring substantial land there and life became difficult. But, the model i thought was great and had tremendous potential.

* After learning all the difficulties I identified another location and I tried again, this time successfully conveying 30 acres within 3 months and launched the project within 6 months. The project is known as "ShubhVastu Residential Township" at just 1 km from Vasind Railway Station. It has 1700 affordable homes, we also added more land for another 1300 homes in this project. The sales took off in Nov 2010 and we are proud to sell 50% within one year of launch. Almost sold out as of now and the construction in full swing we will start delivering homes from this December 2013.

* Many a small time investors who invested in my projects have become millionaires now.

* I also acquired land for a Bangalore based Pan India Developer VBHC having vision to create Affordable Housing throughout India. We helped them launch their Township Project in Palghar and Vasind.

* Moving forward from this point we wanted to create the next level, wherein we can have townships at multiple locations keeping the theme of Affordable homes in mind. India not only needs Townships like this but it needs 600 brand new cities to emerge as truly global developed economy.

* We are continuously identifying opportunities in this segment near Mumbai and gradually all over India. Each of the identified opportunities is equally exciting and forcing us to create value out of it. For this task we need likeminded and equally passionate people & organisations to join us, but this time we need our investors to stay with us till we grow the company and list it on Capital Market with successful IPO. In my continuos effort to realise my dream I keep meeting people, more so the one who are better than me & who help me raise my bar.

We are all set to create history now......

Crowdfunding - Fueling up entrepreneurial dreams - Startups news

Many a time, a great creative or business idea spurges in your mind but when you look at the prospects and the budget, you get financially de-motivated. For many people, the thought of taking significant financial risk holds them back from jumping head-long into launching the idea that has been stuck in the recesses of their heart. And if there is someone to advance a venture capital funding to get your idea off the ground? This is where the soul and aim of crowdfunding lies. Today, Crowdfunding is empowering many would-be entrepreneurs to reach for their dreams.
Creativity or innovation is something that runs smoothly only in the absence of risk. Crowdfunding which in other words is referred as crowd financing or crowd sourced capital take the risk out of that creativity and innovation, allowing even the little guy to do something amazing. Fueled by a community, and managed by some fantastic sites, which can help you fund your idea, business startup or music project, crowdfunding is just out there to help you. With collective cooperation, attention and trust by people who network and pool their money and other resources together, it is growing into one big marketing or social phenomenon from the tags of charity or philanthropy.

While discussing the pros and cons of crowdfunding, the most important thing to consider about Crowdfunding your venture is that this isn't like taking investment. The process can take many forms, and just like taking investment, won't be right for everyone. From startups and non-profits to artists, musicians and filmmakers, people reach out for crowdsourcing mainly through internet, where they state their budget for the venture. The individual or organization then uses their existing networks to leverage the crowd, that's you or me, to donate money to their venture in return for a reward and often this reward is directly related to the venture being funding.

Inspired by crowdsourcing, crowdfunding have expanded from the norms of a process which was usually followed by charities or politicians to raise funds. Today, many crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter.com, rockethub.com, fundbreak.com etc play a crucial role in patronizing the ideas of potential entrepreneurs. One part social networking and one part capital accumulation, crowdfunding websites seek to harness the enthusiasm--and pocket money--of virtual strangers, promising them a cut of the returns. Kickstarter alone claims to have realized 650 projects successfully with pledges or donations coming in from 70,000 people around the world since Kickstarter was launched by five friends in April 2009.
Crowdfunding is helping a vivid medley of projects from people with crazy or fresh ideas. The projects may be a woman who is circumnavigating the globe solo by boat, a band recording their first CD and a cartoonist travelling to Afghanistan to do political sketches. Crowdfunding is now receiving attention from both commercial and social entrepreneurs, as social media, online communities and micropayment technology make it straightforward to secure donations from potentially interested supporters at very low cost. You got an idea? What are you waiting for - crowdfunding is at your service.

Money As Debt (1 of 5)

"The Federal Reserve System virtually controls the nation's monetary system, yet it is accountable to no one. It has no budget, it is subject to no audit, and no Congressional Committee knows of, or can truly supervise its operation."
Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson understood "The Monster". But to most Americans today, Federal Reserve is just a name on the dollar bill. They have no idea of what the central bank does to the economy, or to their own economic lives; of how and why it was founded and operates; or of the sound money and banking that could end the statism, inflation, and business cycles that the Fed generates.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: Want to help Africa? Do business here...

Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story.

"stories matter, many stories matter !
Stories are being used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and humanize.
